The Vienne pattern, drawn from lace and moucharabieh screens, is Alaïa's signature openwork, and here it is cut through black suede from toe to collar. Elastic gussets make it a Chelsea boot; a pointed toe and a 100mm curved stiletto make it an evening one. A pull loop sits at the back.

The smallest Mina, in cerise haircalf cut through with Alaïa's Vienne pattern, the openwork the house draws from lace and moucharabieh screens. A scalloped rim, smooth leather handles and a detachable shoulder strap complete it, with gold-toned feet underneath. The short hair gives the red a soft, velvety depth that plain leather would not.

Balmain's tailoring instincts carry into knitwear here: a bouclé tweed knitted in cream, with a fine gold thread running through the weave. Two domed gold buttons sit above welt pockets at the hip, and the waistband and hem are left frayed rather than bound. The skirt ends high on the thigh and holds a straight line from the waist.

Magda Butrym cuts this biker jacket from dark brown leather in a cropped, cold-weather shape. An off-centre zip runs the front, framed by a plush shearling-style collar and a single zipped chest pocket, with two welt pockets at the hip and an elasticated hem that rounds out the waist. The result reads tough at the shoulder, soft at the collar.

A timeless tailoring staple crafted from silk and wool blend cut in a sleek straight-leg silhouette with pressed creases through the front and back. Slanted side seam pockets maintain the clean lines of the design, while tonal tuxedo-inspired side stripes add a subtle, elongated finish.

Oscar de la Renta works a multi-floral knit jacquard into a rich, woven botanical surface across this short-sleeve knit dress. The intricate jacquard construction renders the floral motifs with a tapestry-like depth and precision, sprays of tulip and blossom set against a deep cigar ground.

Alaïa treats tailoring as construction rather than decoration: a deep flat waistband sits high, curved pockets extend across the front in place of a yoke, and the leg drops straight from the hip. The cloth is a light tailoring wool, lined in cupro. A side seam zip keeps the front unbroken.

Black goat suede runs over the whole body, with a double zip along the top and a removable mirror in the inside pocket. The nap absorbs the light, so the shape does the work.

Le Coeur is Alaïa's heart in three dimensions, its two faces seamed down the centre and zipped along the top. This one is covered in cerise calf-hair, with the strap, tabs and trim cut from smooth calfskin in the same red and a gold-toned pull at each end. The nap shifts from wine to raspberry as it turns.

The Furling palette runs to earth tones, and bordeaux is the deepest of them. The Niv jacket wraps across the front with no visible closure, cut from merino shearling shorn to a short dense pile, its point collar rolling soft against the neck. In most light the colour reads closer to black than to wine.

Furling shears its merino close, and the Perla makes the most of that flat, even pile. It is cut straight and easy in black, with a point collar, two deep patch pockets set at the hip and a placket that hides its buttons. Nothing about it announces itself; the fleece does the work.

Furling's reversible pieces are where the house puts its craft. The Ines jacket carries dense mouton shearling on one face and smooth leather on the other, with a deep hood and a two-way zip that works from either side. The caramel runs warm and even, from the hood facing down to the cuffs.
